It is very exciting to have the opportunity to share some of our Pope John Paul II High School students’ wonderful drawings and paintings with you. Our visual arts students explore many types of media, such as tempera, acrylic and watercolor paints, batik and tie dye, and colored tissue paper collage. They experiment with various surfaces such as paper, watercolor paper, stretched canvas and canvas board, muslin, silk, rubber blocks, silk screen and scratchboard. Students investigate numerous new techniques, with ample opportunities to experiment and then apply newly learned skills on planned, creative projects.
Experienced during the process of making art and reflected in our students’ work are the basic principles of art, such as color, space, line, texture, perspective, composition and balance. Students learn to evaluate their own and their classmates’ art, and all projects are always proudly displayed. I know you will enjoy viewing our students’ artwork. Please come back from time to time to see new drawings and paintings, as we change the work.
