Message from the Principal
![]() A Message from the Principal As a Catholic college-preparatory school, the academic program of Pope John Paul II High School is based upon our school's mission and belief statements. Faith formation and student learning are the chief priorities of the school. The academic program reflects the integration of Catholic faith and values with learning and life. Students experience a spiritually enlivening and academic challenging environment. Course offerings, as well as curricular goals and objectives, are aligned with our Catholic identity, the Florida State Sunshine Standards and other appropriate national and subject-specific standards. Recognizing that each student has individual abilities, strengths and needs, a variety of classes are offered. They range from Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment with Saint Thomas University and Lynn University, Honors and regular college-preparatory classes. In association with Lynn University, a variety of college courses are made available to our students outside of the regular school day. There is a Learning Specialist available to offer limited assistance to students with minor learning needs. A variety of instructional, technological and assessment strategies are used to support student learning. Professional development is vital to enabling students to maximize their learning potential. The faculty is engaged in a process to utilize the Professional Learning Community model to facilitate teacher collaboration. Research has proven that effectively engaging in such a cooperative process will result in improved student learning and performance. Pope John Paul II High School is committed to continuous improvement of the academic program. Challenging expectations increase individual student performance. Virtually all of our students pursue higher education. Students are prepared not only for collegiate studies, but also to be moral and ethical participants and leaders in today's and tomorrow's ever-changing and challenging world community.
